Our Story: How We Started

Our journey began in 2017, specifically on May 7th, when our founder, Chef Ethan Carter, noticed a growing need among New York professionals and families. After spending 12 years working in Michelin-starred restaurants across Manhattan, he recognized that many people wanted exceptional food but lacked the time or expertise to prepare it consistently at home.

The turning point came when a corporate executive client asked if Ethan Carter could prepare healthy, gourmet meals at her home for her family of four. This single request revealed an underserved market: people who valued quality nutrition and dining experiences but couldn’t commit to restaurant schedules or grocery shopping logistics.

Starting with five regular clients in 2017, we expanded through referrals and built our reputation by consistently delivering personalized service. By 2020, we had grown to a team of eight certified chefs. Today, we serve over 120 regular clients across New York City, with many relationships spanning five years or more.

Our Vision

We envision a New York where every household has access to professional culinary expertise without the constraints of restaurant dining or the burden of daily cooking tasks. Our goal is to become the most trusted personal chef service in the tri-state area by 2028, known for transforming home dining into an effortless, elevated experience.

We see a future where personalized nutrition and culinary excellence are accessible to more families, supporting healthier lifestyles and bringing people together around exceptional meals prepared with care in their own homes.

Our Mission

Our mission is to deliver customized, high-quality culinary experiences directly in our clients’ homes across New York City. We achieve this by:

  • Providing expert meal planning based on your dietary needs, preferences, and health goals
  • Managing complete grocery procurement from trusted suppliers and specialty markets throughout NYC
  • Cooking fresh meals in your kitchen using professional techniques and premium ingredients
  • Adapting to your lifestyle whether you need weekly meal prep, daily cooking, or special event catering
  • Maintaining the highest food safety standards with all chefs holding current NYC Food Handler certifications

We serve busy professionals who need reliable meal solutions, families seeking healthier eating patterns, individuals with specific dietary restrictions (diabetic, gluten-free, vegan, allergen-safe), and anyone who values their time while refusing to compromise on food quality.

Our Business Philosophy

Our approach centers on three core principles we developed through years of working in New York homes:

Personalization Over Templates: We never use one-size-fits-all meal plans. Every client receives a customized culinary program developed through detailed consultations about your taste preferences, dietary requirements, family dynamics, and schedule constraints.

Transparency in Every Aspect: You know exactly what ingredients we purchase, where they come from, and how much they cost. We provide itemized grocery receipts and explain our sourcing decisions. This transparency builds trust and helps you understand the value you receive.

Flexibility as Standard Service: Life in New York changes rapidly. We accommodate last-minute adjustments to meal plans, dietary changes, schedule modifications, and special requests without requiring long lead times or charging premium fees for reasonable flexibility.

These principles emerged from listening to our clients over thousands of service interactions. We found that what New Yorkers value most is not just culinary skill but reliability, clear communication, and adaptability to their complex schedules.

What Makes Us Different (Our Unique Selling Points)

1. Verified Culinary Credentials: All our chefs have graduated from accredited culinary institutions (primarily Culinary Institute of America, Institute of Culinary Education, or equivalent) and have worked in professional New York restaurants for a minimum of five years. We verify credentials and check references before any chef joins our team.

2. Specialized Dietary Expertise: We employ chefs with specific training in diabetic cooking, allergen management, plant-based cuisine, and therapeutic diets. If you need low-sodium meals for heart health or elimination diet support for autoimmune conditions, we match you with a chef who has proven experience in that specific area.

3. Direct Kitchen Assessment: Before starting service, we visit your home to assess your kitchen equipment, storage capacity, and cooking facilities. This ensures we bring any specialized tools needed and can work efficiently in your specific space. Many services skip this step and discover limitations only after service begins.

4. Flexible Scheduling Models: Unlike competitors who require fixed weekly schedules, we offer multiple service models: weekly meal prep (cook once, eat all week), daily cooking visits, bi-weekly intensive prep, or occasional special event catering. You choose what fits your lifestyle, and you can adjust as your needs change.

5. No Long-Term Contracts Required: We operate on a monthly service agreement with 30-day cancellation notice. This contrasts with competitors requiring 3-6 month commitments. We believe our service quality should earn your continued business, not contractual obligations.

6. Ingredient Sourcing Control: You decide whether we shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, local farmers markets, or specialty stores like Eataly. We also work with your preferred butchers, fishmongers, and produce vendors if you have established relationships.

Our Core Values

Excellence in Execution: We hold ourselves to restaurant-kitchen standards in your home. This means proper knife skills, appropriate cooking temperatures, professional plating, and meticulous cleanup. We never leave your kitchen less organized than we found it.

Respect for Your Home: We treat your kitchen as the professional workspace it temporarily becomes. We use proper cutting boards to protect countertops, manage cooking odors with ventilation strategies, and ensure your kitchen returns to its original state after service. Many clients mention they appreciate finding their kitchen cleaner than before we arrived.

Continuous Learning: The culinary field evolves rapidly. Our chefs participate in quarterly training on new cooking techniques, emerging dietary approaches, and updated food safety protocols. We invest in professional development because it directly improves your service experience.

Honest Communication: If we cannot accommodate a request, we explain why and suggest alternatives. If an ingredient is unavailable or a dish didn’t meet our standards, we communicate immediately and offer solutions. This honesty prevents small issues from becoming major problems.

Client Privacy: We recognize that working in your home requires exceptional discretion. Our chefs sign confidentiality agreements, and we never share client information, photographs of your home, or details about your dietary needs without explicit permission.
